Israel: Reservist Since October 7, Son of the Israeli Ambassador to the US Seriously Injured in West Bank

Neria Leiter, an Israeli reservist and son of the Israeli ambassador to the United States, was seriously injured on September 23 in the West Bank when he was hit by a vehicle at a checkpoint during a security operation. His father, Yechiel Leiter, who has been Israel’s ambassador in Washington since January 2025, stated that Neria had accumulated several hundred reserve days since October 7, 2023, despite the death of his elder brother in Gaza in November 2023. Neria was evacuated unconscious to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, where an emergency neurosurgery was performed; his condition remains critical. Benjamin Netanyahu visited him at the hospital before leaving for the UN.
