‘We counted over 20 bodies after attackers left’ – Taraba massacre survivors

Gunmen riding motorcycles attacked the rural village of Binnari in Taraba state just after Friday prayers. Residents Isiyaku Musa and Sa’idu Nuhu reported at least 20 deaths and said some people were still missing, while police said 10 bodies had been recovered. Community leader Malam Abubakar Saifullahi said about 50 motorcycles, carrying two men each, took part in the raid, looting shops and stealing food, cash, supplies and abandoned motorcycles. Amnesty International Nigeria criticized the authorities’ failure to protect rural communities and bring suspected perpetrators to justice.
