Emfuleni fleet probe widens as police trace eight vehicles to other municipalities

The investigation into the R16 million Emfuleni 'ghost fleet' scandal has widened with the discovery of eight vehicles linked to the procurement found in other municipalities and a private company. Supplier Mpho Malema, 40, has been arrested and faces charges of fraud, corruption, and theft. His case has been postponed to September 14 for profiling and a possible bail application, which the State intends to oppose. The investigation is also connected to the murder of whistle-blower Martha Mani Rantsofu.
