Benin's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Corinne Amori Brunet, participated in extraordinary African Union meetings in Luanda, Angola, on August 29 and 30, 2026. These meetings aimed to assess the effectiveness of existing conflict prevention and resolution mechanisms in Africa, addressing current crises on the continent. The summit was convened following a decision from the 39th ordinary session of the AU, led by Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço. Additionally, Benin is set to preside over the AU Peace and Security Council in September 2026.
