A third round of direct talks between Israel and Lebanon has started in Washington, DC, with hopes for a new ceasefire agreement. The two-day negotiations address thorny issues such as the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon and the disarmament of Hezbollah. Lebanese envoy Simon Karam and Israeli Deputy National Security Adviser Yossi Draznin are participating, although top leaders from both countries are not present.
