World Cup 2026: like in South Africa 2010, Shakira opens five weeks of football celebration

The opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup took place at Mexico City's Estadio Azteca in front of 80,000 spectators. Shakira performed 'Dai Dai' with Burna Boy, sixteen years after her hit 'Waka Waka'. Other Latin American artists including Maná, Danny Ocean, Los Ángeles Azules, J Balvin, and Belinda also performed. The ceremony concluded before the opening match between Mexico and South Africa.
