Benin: FADeC VI focuses on local infrastructure and municipal resilience

Benin’s government launched the sixth phase of the Communal Development Support Fund (FADeC) in Cotonou on October 27, 2026, covering all 77 municipalities. The program supports municipal investment, while its Sahel window targets 27 northern municipalities facing security challenges and violent extremism. According to Réginal Koumagbéafidé, director general of the Communal Investment Fund, this phase aims to improve equitable access to basic infrastructure, involve residents more in decisions, and strengthen municipal capacity. FADeC’s projected budget for 2026 is 58.94 billion CFA francs, up 4.2% from 56.54 billion in 2025.
