Mixed reactions trail FG’s exemption of Colleges of Education, Agriculture from UTME

Last week, the Federal Government of Nigeria announced the exemption of admission seekers into Colleges of Education and Agriculture from taking the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME. Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, emphasized that this decision aims to expand access and strengthen the integrity of admissions processes. However, some stakeholders, including COEASU President Dr. Lawan Bazza, oppose the policy, arguing it lowers educational standards.
