Stand-up comedian Brijesh Jha posted a parody video on Instagram protesting the removal of his and his family members' names from voter lists in West Bengal. The video, accusing India’s Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of disenfranchising millions at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP, was taken down by Meta two days later, citing local laws. Jha stated that the Modi government is scared after an investigation revealed that two election commissioners had raised concerns over a controversial voter roll revision that has deleted over 130 million voters, mostly Muslims.
