Ethiopia must not be dragged back into war

In October 2022, negotiating teams from the Ethiopian federal government and the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) met in Pretoria, South Africa, to make peace. Despite a raging war, the negotiators set a cordial tone, allowing direct and informal discussions in local languages. Mediated by African statesmen, the talks had heated debates and breakthroughs, resulting in more successes than failures. The authors urge against reigniting the conflict.
