Twenty days after the official declaration of Ebola virus disease, 63 deaths have been recorded out of 381 cases, a fatality rate of less than 17%. Minister of Public Health Roger Kamba announced the figures on June 4, 2026 in Kinshasa, alongside Minister of Communication Patrick Muyaya. The decrease in lethality is attributed to the establishment of laboratories and the acquisition of care kits. The outbreak affects three northeastern provinces of the DRC: Ituri, South Kivu, and North Kivu.
