Oyo schoolchildren: No ransom payment reinforces authority of state – Yakassai

APC chieftain Umar Tanko Yakasai hailed the rescue of Oyo schoolchildren without ransom as a milestone against insecurity. He criticized Governor Seyi Makinde's call for a UN investigation as 'preposterous'. The kidnappers, members of the Ansaru terrorist group, demanded release of a detained commander, but the federal government refused to capitulate. Yakasai attributed the success to defense budget increases and military acquisitions including M-346 fighter jets and AH-1Z attack helicopters.
