BREAKING: Rivers Assembly backs creation of State Police - Daily Post Nigeria

The Rivers State House of Assembly has approved the bill for creating a state police in Nigeria, following the submission of the 1999 Constitution (Sixth Alteration) Bill, 2026, by the National Assembly. The bill shifts Nigeria from a single national police system to a dual system with Federal Police and State Police Services. Other states such as Ogun and Nasarawa have also expressed support for establishing State Police.
