Jean de Dieu Momo responds to Maurice Kamto’s accusations against the army

Maurice Kamto accused Cameroon’s military of being used for political purposes and deployed more to contain popular protests than to counter external threats. He also criticized sending soldiers against unarmed fellow citizens. Deputy Justice Minister Jean de Dieu Momo called Kamto’s remarks harmful to troop morale and said security forces are trained to protect the population. Momo pointed to soldiers’ sacrifices in securing the country and accused Kamto of lacking empathy for troops serving on the front lines.
