SAKIMA Workers Strike for Over 31 Months of Salary Arrears in Maniema

Employees of SAKIMA, on strike since September 10, are demanding payment of over 31 months of salary arrears, totaling 2 years and 7 months. They accuse management of not honoring an agreement signed in September 2023 with provincial government mediation and call for the president’s involvement to resolve their situation. The workers also demand the payment of revenues from activities such as Umoja and electricity sales, the implementation of the latest salary scale, and the removal of the coordination committee. They denounce arbitrary arrests by the National Intelligence Agency related to their demands and continue their strike pending a response.
