Morocco’s Local Tax Reform Shifts Power to Regions

Morocco has introduced a major reform of local taxation, transferring key financial powers to regional authorities to enhance their autonomy. The newly adopted Law 14/25 aims to reduce the reliance of territorial collectivities on state budget transfers. This reform simplifies local taxes and clarifies tax bases and rates, which is expected to lead to more efficient tax collection and increased local revenues.
