Akwa Ibom Government Denies Alleged Airline Monopoly

The Akwa Ibom State Government rejected allegations that it had prevented other airlines from operating at Victor Attah International Airport, where Ibom Air had been the sole operator since 2019. Uwem Ekanem, an adviser to Governor Umo Eno on aviation and airport development, said talks were underway with ValueJet and Air Peace was set to begin flights on October 23. Separately, commissioner Emem Almond Bob said the Ibom Deep Seaport project had secured federal approvals but still needed investors before it could proceed.
