APGA adopts Tinubu as presidential candidate, targets 50% of votes in Anambra

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has adopted President Bola Tinubu, the APC candidate, as its choice for Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election. Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo announced the decision Friday in Awka at the launch of APGA’s national campaign, citing Tinubu’s concern for the Igbo people and Anambra residents. Soludo noted that Tinubu received only about 5,000 votes in the state in 2023, but said his work addressing challenges in Anambra and the Southeast warranted support. The governor set a target of winning 50% of Anambra’s votes for Tinubu in 2027 to strengthen the region’s ability to engage with the federal government.

2027: Malami’s aide condemns demolition of ADC support group’s headquarters

Mohammed Bello Doka, media aide to former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami, condemned the demolition of the Malami Pressure Group (MPG) headquarters in Birnin Kebbi. Doka said a suspected Kebbi State Government agency demolished the building on October 30, 2026, the day before its planned inauguration; Malami had donated it to the ADC-affiliated youth group ahead of the 2027 general elections. He said no prior notice or court order had been provided and called on the state government to explain the operation, which he said raised concerns about freedom of association and expression and property rights. Doka also cited Kebbi’s 2022 multidimensional poverty incidence of 82.2%, compared with 63% nationally, and said more than 95% of children under five in the state were affected.
