With over 2 million displaced, South Kivu becomes the epicenter of the humanitarian crisis in DRC (Ocha)

South Kivu is the most affected province by the internal displacement crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with approximately 2.4 million displaced persons, accounting for nearly 44% of the 5.61 million displaced nationwide. Between January and February 2026, over 300,000 new individuals were forced to flee their homes due to armed clashes.
