Singaporean Loses $285,000 in Alleged Crude Oil Scam; Suspect Arraigned by EFCC

The EFCC arraigned Amechi James Oduofor before the Federal High Court in Benin City, Edo State, over an alleged $285,000 scam targeting Singaporean Jimmy Kee. Prosecutors say Oduofor posed as NNPC official Bright Wilcox and sent forged documents seeking a fictitious cargo reassignment fee for crude oil. He pleaded not guilty to eight counts involving forgery, impersonation and obtaining money by false pretence. Justice C. A. Obiozor ordered him remanded and adjourned the case until November 19, 2026.
