Ebola Alert: Lagos Steps Up Surveillance and Upgrades Isolation Centre

After Nigeria confirmed an imported Ebola case in the Federal Capital Territory, the Lagos State Government stepped up its preparedness. Health Commissioner Akin Abayomi said the isolation centre had been upgraded, while simulation drills, enhanced digital surveillance and a laboratory testing process designed to deliver results within 24 hours were being put in place. He urged residents to wash their hands regularly, avoid contact with the bodily fluids of sick people and call emergency services before visiting a health facility if they have symptoms or suspect exposure.
