DRC: Judith Suminwa Expected at National Assembly to Present 2027 Finance Bill

Prime Minister Judith Suminwa is expected at the National Assembly to present the DRC’s 2027 budget bill, filed on September 15. Balanced at 56.93 trillion Congolese francs, or about US$24.8 billion, the budget is nearly 12% higher than the 2026 revised budget. Dubbed the “action and sovereignty budget,” it prioritizes security and peace, development, and more effective public services, with planned investment in agriculture, infrastructure, and basic social services. It also provides for continued free primary education and its extension to the seventh and eighth years starting in the 2027–28 school year.
