Middle Belt attacks: US urges Nigeria to strengthen security efforts - Daily Post Nigeria

The United States commended Nigeria’s response to recent attacks in the Middle Belt, especially in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, and urged the government to maintain efforts to protect communities. The US Department of State’s Bureau of African Affairs highlighted Nigeria’s strong response to attacks by Fulani militant groups and emphasized the need to defend Barkin Ladi, which has experienced multiple recent attacks. On September 27, six people were killed and two injured in an attack on a mining site in Lajam Marit village, Ropp district, with victims shot at the site and the injured hospitalized.

Kebbi Govt backs new Army formations, seeks public support against banditry

The Kebbi State Government has welcomed the Nigerian Army’s establishment and operationalisation of new military formations, including the 28 Armoured Brigade in Birnin Kebbi, the 281 Tank Battalion in Yauri, and the 381 Artillery Regiment in Kaoje. The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed BK, stated that this increased military presence would help security forces respond more effectively to banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities. He also urged residents to support security agencies by providing credible information about bandits' activities, locations, and movements to strengthen intelligence gathering and improve security in the state.
