UN adopts resolution supporting international court’s climate ruling

The United Nations General Assembly voted in favor of a resolution supporting a landmark ruling from the International Court of Justice, which found that states have a legal responsibility to act to prevent the climate crisis. 141 member states voted in favor, with 8 against and 28 abstaining. Ralph Regenvanu, Vanuatu's climate change minister, described the vote as a victory for communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis.
