NERC approves compensation for eligible 'Band A' electricity customers

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved special compensation for eligible 'Band A' customers affected by grid generation constraints. The compensation covers the period from February to March 2026, due to inadequate gas supply and vandalism of critical infrastructure. Prepaid customers will receive token credits, while postpaid customers will get bill adjustments. The compensation is 20% of the energy cap for non-MD customers and 20% of the average bill for MD customers.

CBN unveils new FX guidelines, approves cash movement of $50,000

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued new foreign exchange guidelines allowing individuals to move up to $50,000 in cash, provided the amount is declared at the point of exit. The previous limit of $10,000 without declaration remains unchanged. All inbound FX transfers will be disbursed to beneficiaries' accounts in Naira. Authorized Dealer Banks can import foreign currency to meet local cash needs with prior CBN approval.
