Lagos begins controlled demolition of fire-damaged Martins Street building

The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), has begun the controlled demolition of a fire-damaged building on Martins Street, Lagos Island. LASEMA Permanent Secretary Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu stated that the exercise follows a comprehensive structural assessment and adheres to international best practices in urban safety. All commercial activities around the building are suspended, and the site is barricaded with dust suppression and traffic management measures in place. Emergency responders, including fire and ambulance services, are deployed.
