Sifuna to Contest for President on UDP Ticket, Natembeya Reveals

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya announced that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna will run for president on the United Democratic Party (UDP) ticket. Natembeya clarified that Sifuna will use the UDP after the registrar of Political Parties rejected the party's attempt to rename itself as Ukombozi People's Party (UPP). He also revealed that Sifuna is negotiating with the broader opposition, including the DCP and the rebranded Ukombozi Alliance, to field a single presidential candidate to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 elections.
