Ballon d'Or 2026: Africa has only two names in the race, down from three last year

Achraf Hakimi and Sadio Mané are the only two African players nominated for the Ballon d'Or 2026, announced on September 8. The previous edition had three representatives, including Mohamed Salah and Serhou Guirassy, who are not included this year. The award ceremony will take place on October 26 in London, marking a first for this event usually held in Paris.
