Shrimp: Informality and the Weight of Nigerian Fishermen Weaken a Strategic Sector

The shrimp sector in Cameroon, although regarded as the main fishery export product, suffers from informality, post-capture losses, and weak cold chain logistics. A study from the FISH4ACP program reveals that 61.5% of active fishermen in this sector are Nigerian. The sector involves over 11,000 stakeholders and generates an added value of 47 million dollars, representing about 12% of the fishing sector's GDP.
