The Idoma Association USA has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to take immediate action to end killings in Benue South Senatorial District, describing a decade-long campaign of violence by armed herdsmen. The group cited attacks on July 11-12, 2026, on Akpachi and Otukpo-Nobi communities, where at least 20 people were killed, and noted that prior intelligence provided to the Och'Idoma was ignored by security agencies. Governor Hyacinth Alia visited Otukpo but did not go to the affected communities.
