Sudan: IPC reports alarming food insecurity

More than 40% of Sudan's population is facing high levels of acute food insecurity, according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC). Nearly 19.5 million people are affected, with 135,000 in phase 5, characterized by extreme food deficits and very high levels of malnutrition. Samy Guessabi, national director of Action Against Hunger in Sudan, described the situation as 'alarming.'
