The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benue State held a workshop for people with disabilities, electoral officers and disability desk officers to improve accessibility and participation in the 2027 general elections. Resident Electoral Commissioner Mallam Aminu Idris said credible elections must also be inclusive, and that INEC identifies voters’ needs so it can provide suitable assistance. He said voter registration had been conducted at internally displaced persons’ locations with support from NGOs, and that PVCs for people who registered between August and December 2025 were available for collection at the local government level. National Orientation Agency state director Mark Dewua called for accessible polling units, clear electoral information and respectful treatment of voters with disabilities.
