Nigeria says joint US strikes kill 175 ISIL fighters in country’s northeast

Nigerian forces, in collaboration with the United States, claimed to have killed 175 ISIL fighters in joint strikes in the northeast of the country. The spokesperson for the Nigerian Defence Headquarters confirmed that these operations destroyed checkpoints and weapon caches used by ISIL and its affiliate, ISWAP. This announcement follows the death of Abu Bilal al-Minuki, described as ISIL's second-in-command, during a joint strike.
