2027: Don’t promise what you can’t deliver, Maraya warns politicians

Sheikh Haliru Maraya, a Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, warned politicians against making unrealistic promises ahead of the 2027 elections. He emphasized that reinstating the fuel subsidy would be financially unsustainable for Nigeria, which consumes between 47 and 64 million liters of petrol daily. Maraya also noted that the subsidy cost could reach N52.3 billion per day, which would have severe economic implications.
