Fans berate gospel artist Ezra Jinang over song calling Remi Tinubu “mother of the poor”

Plateau gospel artist and pastor Ezra Jinang, also a special assistant on entertainment to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, has faced heavy criticism after releasing a song praising Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, as “Maman Talakawa,” or “Mother of the Poor.” Released on Saturday ahead of the APC convention in Kaduna, the song drew mixed reactions, with some defending gospel artists’ right to praise political leaders. Critics including Sargwak Amos and Comrade Rillz Michael Mangai questioned the title amid poverty, insecurity and rising living costs, and accused Jinang of failing to use his platform to advocate for people in Plateau State.
