EFF walks out of Cape Town mayoral dialogue over Cape Forum’s AfriForum links

The EFF in the Western Cape walked out of the “Beyond the Ballot” mayoral dialogue held on Sunday at the University of the Western Cape and hosted by Cape Flats Stories and The Bridge SA Movement. Provincial chairperson Unathi Ntame said organisers had concealed Cape Forum’s involvement and accused the event of advancing a racist, white supremacist and pro-apartheid agenda. The party also objected to Cape Forum materials distributed at the event, including the slogan “place the Cape’s future in Cape hands.” The dialogue was intended to address housing, land restitution, gender-based violence, gang violence and spatial inequality.

Togo’s revised budget proposal brings 2026 spending to 2,744.2 billion CFA francs

Togo’s Council of Ministers adopted a supplementary finance bill on October 22, reducing the 2026 budget to 2,744.2 billion CFA francs, 0.3% below the original figure. The initial budget had projected tax revenue of 1,338.9 billion CFA francs, but the revised target was not disclosed. The government also presented a balanced 2027 budget proposal of 2,684.1 billion CFA francs, including 490 billion in investments tied to its 2026-2031 roadmap; both proposals must be examined by Parliament.
