Benin: Nicéphore Soglo tells Djogbénou what moved him in his inauguration speech

Benin’s National Assembly president, Joseph Fifamin Djogbénou, visited former head of state Nicéphore Dieudonné Soglo on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at La Haie-Vive in Cotonou. Soglo said he was moved to tears by Djogbénou’s inauguration speech, which paid tribute to Rosine Vieyra Soglo, who died in 2021. He asked for a copy of the speech and said he was proud of Djogbénou. Djogbénou called Soglo a source of inspiration and said the delegation had come to place the parliamentary mandate under his blessing.
