Since being officially designated as the provincial capital in 2015, Lusambo faces severe infrastructure decay, with colonial-era buildings cracked and inadequate facilities for administrative services. The city suffers from water and electricity shortages, poor road conditions, and an airport limited to a dirt runway that becomes unusable during the rainy season. The decentralization of financial agencies and public services, ordered by the Prime Minister, requires a comprehensive modernization to enable Lusambo to fully perform its role as the provincial capital.
