Why Israel is interfering in Palestinian education

The school year in occupied East Jerusalem began with 45,000 Palestinian children studying a curriculum created by Israeli authorities, representing over a third of students in the area, nearly doubling from the previous year. Christian schools started the year with a strike due to many teachers from the West Bank being denied permits to enter the city. Israel claims its intervention is justified, accusing Palestinian textbooks and teacher training of inciting hate, which it considers an interference in occupied territory. Israeli interference extends beyond East Jerusalem into the West Bank and Gaza, where the education system has been severely impacted with the help of Western-funded NGOs.
