National Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Jean-Pierre Tshimanga Buana launched a free vaccination campaign in Mbuji-Mayi on October 15, 2026, which will run for twelve months. It covers cattle, small ruminants, poultry and dogs throughout Kasaï-Oriental province. Vaccines and motorcycles were provided to provincial agents, who are vaccinating animals at owners’ homes through door-to-door operations. The campaign aims to combat canine rabies, contagious bovine pleuropneumonia, pasteurellosis, Newcastle disease, brucellosis and trypanosomiasis.
