Afenifere rift: ‘Those still making noise are in cuckoo land,’ says Omololu

Abagun Omololu, Afenifere’s national organising secretary, expressed optimism about the organisation’s future following the death of its leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti. He called the split ahead of Nigeria’s 2023 election an unfortunate period, when acting leader Ayo Adebanjo backed Peter Obi while Fasoranti supported Bola Tinubu. Omololu praised Fasoranti’s legacy of public service and egalitarianism, recalling that he declined to become governor of Ondo State after his wife died and was not ready to remarry.
