Senate urges FG to intensify military operations against terrorists, bandits

The Nigerian Senate has adopted a motion by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele urging the federal government to sustain and intensify military and intelligence operations against terrorists, kidnappers, and bandits. It calls for modern equipment, advanced surveillance technology, and improved welfare for the armed forces. The lawmakers also commended the rescue of 39 abducted school children and 7 teachers on July 10, 2026, after their abduction on May 15, 2026, an operation that cost the lives of three security personnel. The Senate emphasized prompt payment of death benefits to families of fallen security personnel.
