Eko Power says customers will not be penalised or disconnected for reducing their electricity use after investing in solar energy. The clarification followed Raphael Awoseyin’s complaint that he received a disconnection notice and a demand for 112,606 naira after installing an 18-kilowatt solar system. Corporate communications manager Abiola Aloba said the charge had been cancelled, the notice withdrawn, and Awoseyin had never been disconnected. Eko Power also replaced his faulty prepaid meter free of charge and said it would impose no back-billing or other costs related to the incident.
