WHO chief warns Ebola response must ramp up to stem DRC outbreak

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that every transmission chain of the Ebola virus must be identified and broken to contain the outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The death toll from Ebola has exceeded 3,000, making this the fastest and deadliest outbreak ever recorded in the DRC. Response efforts are hindered by conflict, poor infrastructure, and a lack of funding, with a gap of over $1 billion.
