Ebola in North Kivu: prevention measures still poorly observed in Beni, Butembo and Lubero

In Beni, Butembo and Lubero, several Ebola prevention measures remain poorly observed: motorcycle taxis carry multiple passengers, handwashing facilities are missing at some shops, schools and churches, and residents continue greeting one another as usual. Health sources also report shortages of protective equipment at several private health facilities, raising concerns about the safety of healthcare workers. Figures released on October 25 recorded 445 deaths in the Katwa health zone in Butembo, 466 in Beni and 119 in the Butembo health zone since the outbreak began.
