Atiku accuses Tinubu of abandoning retired police officers to hardship

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar accused President Bola Tinubu of leaving retired police officers to face hunger, illness and humiliation. He said a retired officer receives a monthly pension of 29,000 naira and that more than 120 members of one retirees’ association had died in the past three years. Atiku also recounted that a retired female Assistant Commissioner of Police, after seeking cleaning work, was found begging at Abuja’s Central Mosque. He called for an urgent response to the Police Exit Bill and a salary review for serving officers, arguing that one-off assistance cannot replace a reliable pension system.
