Arsenal go top after narrow win at Liverpool

Arsenal beat Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield, with Kai Havertz turning in a low cross from Declan Rice in the 16th minute. The Gunners held off Liverpool’s pressure, including a Florian Wirtz free kick that struck the bar and a headed chance missed by Alexis Mac Allister. The win was Arsenal’s first at Anfield since 2012 and put Mikel Arteta’s side top with 24 points from nine games, three ahead of Manchester City. Liverpool, in fifth place, are now nine points behind Arsenal after their second league defeat of the season.
