A cyberattack campaign is using Steam Workshop and Wallpaper Engine to distribute malware disguised as animated anime wallpapers. Kaspersky researchers identified dozens of infected packages, some downloaded tens of thousands of times. The attackers' primary objective is stealing gaming accounts and deploying additional malware. The application-based wallpaper feature allows malicious programs to run directly on Windows computers.
