Mahagi civil society calls for local hiring in roadworks

On Wednesday, October 28, the Mahagi Civil Society–Forces Vives in Ituri urged the two companies modernizing urban roads to prioritize local workers. It said the projects should create jobs, reduce unemployment, strengthen community ownership and build trust between contractors and residents. The group also called for compliance with urban planning requirements, preservation of road rights-of-way and a 12-metre width for the roads being upgraded. It reaffirmed its support for the roadworks and the planned modern stadium in Mahagi.
