OAU Rejects Ethnic Discrimination Allegations and Defends Its Admission Policy

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Osun State, has rejected allegations of ethnic discrimination in admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session. Spokesperson Abiodun Olarewaju responded to a petition by Akin Okunowo, saying admissions follow federal policies and regulatory guidelines. The university says decisions consider academic performance, available places and programme requirements, alongside geographical representation and access to education. It added that admissions to Law and Accounting cannot be judged from selected scores alone without reviewing complete official records and applicable regulations.
